A new layout design for each office was developed with NFU Mutual before full design and tender documents were produced. The existing shop front was looking tired and unwelcoming, therefore the design of a new façade was incorporated to provide a more sophisticated street presence.
The site was a fully operational officer therefore careful consideration needed to be made to the phasing of the works; in particular the replacement shop front and replacement roof covering. Make Consulting worked closely with the Contractor to develop a phasing plan including out of hours working and a new temporary entrance to the Agency to minimise disruption and ensure the office remain functioning.
The proposed external works required planning permission, a process managed by Make. This included writing and submitting a design and access statement, completing a biodiversity checklist and producing the detailed drawings.
Make managed the full contract, which included:
- Replacement external windows, doors and a new shop front
- New partitioning to create a revised layout
- New tea point facility
- Mechanical and electrical alterations to suit the new layout
- Internal decorations and flooring throughout
- New roof covering to replace asbestos containing roof sheet
- New sanitary-ware
