Hours of work: Monday to Friday – 09.00 to 17.30 with 1 Hour for lunch

Holidays: 25 days holiday (3 days for Christmas shutdown) + statutory holidays

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  1. Must hold a degree level qualification within a RICS accredited degree course or equivalent conversion qualification.
  2. At least 5 years Post-Qualification Experience.
  3. Working towards or striving to work towards Chartered status. Ideally, approaching final assessment of APC pathway, or holding RICS professional qualification.

Specific Desirable Criteria

  1. RICS Chartered (If not currently Chartered, see Essential criteria above)
  2. NEC4 Contract Experience

Senior Building Surveyor – Essential Criteria

  1. A willingness to undertake local and firm-wide business development initiatives and increase the development of the building consultancy service delivered from our Office.
  2. Proactive self-starter with good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively; both orally and in writing.
  3. High level of attention to detail and an inquiring mind.
  4. The ability to manage time effectively, prioritising tasks to ensure that deadlines are met.
  5. The ability to produce clear and concise written reports and recommendations.
  6. A keen team member with the ability to accept responsibility and work on their own initiative.
  7. Good client management and relationship skills.
  8. A good working knowledge of IT is essential, in particular with Microsoft Office packages, Excel and AutoCAD.
  9. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
  10. Experience undertaking building surveys and schedules of condition.
  11. Experience in project delivery of the design and refurbishment of existing buildings, including Contract Administration role.
  12. Effective communicator, both with colleagues and clients.
  13. Knowledge of Planning and Building Regulations.
  14. Defect Analysis – Have the ability to analyse and identify disrepair in a building, prepare reports explaining the defects and explain the rectification measures.
  15. Experience in Health and Safety procedures (CDM).
  16. Experience in Specification writing and putting together Tender Documentation.
  17. Able to manage and provide advice/guidance to more junior members of staff.
  18. Able to general fee earning work for the business.
