In 2017 Make secured £455,000 for the replacement of roof coverings which had multiple leak points throughout; moisture was coming in to direct contact with the plywood roof deck, weakening it’s structural integrity and causing internal water ingress to access teaching spaces.
Once funding was secured, Make carefully planned the works to ensure that the Academy could remain fully operational through the course of the Project. Make were able to achieve the key time and budget targets set.
In parallel, Make also project managed a window replacement project, having secured a further £365,000 for the Academy. Internal environments within teaching spaces were poor, caused by poor thermal insulation resultant of the original, single glazed, crittal windows.
Similarly to the roof recovering project, the School needed to remain open to staff and students. As the window replacement could pose a high risk to children, it was imperative that a detailed decanting and recanting programme was produced for the classrooms affected.
