Hours of work: Monday to Friday – 09.00 to 17.30 with 1 Hour for lunch

Holidays: 25 days holiday (3 days for Christmas shutdown) + statutory holidays

Essential Qualifications & Experience

1. Must hold a degree level qualification within a RICS accredited degree course or equivalent conversion qualification.

2. Minimum of 3 – 5 years industry experience in a similar role

3. Working towards or willing to work towards Chartered status. Ideally mid-way or nearing APC final assessment, or holding RICS professional qualification

Quantity Surveyor – Essential Criteria

1. A willingness to undertake local and firm-wide business development initiatives and increase the development of the building consultancy service delivered from our Office.
2. Proactive self-starter with good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively; both orally and in writing. 
3. High level of attention to detail and an inquiring mind.
4. The ability to manage time effectively, prioritising tasks to ensure that deadlines are met.
5. A keen team member with the ability to accept responsibility and work on their own initiative.
6. Good client management and relationship skills.
7. A good working knowledge of IT is essential, in particular with Microsoft Office packages

Cost Management and Control
8. Experience of preparing detailed Bills Of Quantities, Schedules Of Work and Tender Documents
9. Experience of benchmarking and cost data analysis across a range of project types
10. Analyse contractor pricing and assist in producing value engineering proposals
11. Assist in the financial close out and final account negotiation
 
Contract and Legal Knowledge
12. Administer contracts, under limited supervision, including reviewing payment applications and issuing interim valuation certificates under JCT, NEC and other standard forms of contract
13. Support contract drafting and tender queries
14. Help manage and advise on contractual risks and compliance
 
Procurement Expertise
15. Knowledge of different procurement routes: traditional, design and build, management contracting etc.
16. Assist in the management of pre-qualification and tendering processes
17. Analyse tender returns and prepare Tender Reports
18. Assist Clients in contractor appointments and contract negotiations
 
Financial and Commercial Reporting
19. Prepare accurate financial reports and cashflow forecasts for internal and client use
20. Support preparation of final accounts and project closeout documentation
21. Support in the preparation of cost plans, budgets and feasibility studies
 
Change and Variation Control
22. Management of change control procedures and variations
23. Negotiating and agreeing variation orders and claims
24. Pricing and valuing of change and compensation events
 
Construction Knowledge
25. Understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing
26. Knowledge of current building regulations and industry standards
27. Engage in site visits and contractor meetings to track project delivery and quality
28. Liaise with multidisciplinary teams including design and planning
 
Tender and Bid Management
29. Experience of managing tender processes and advising on procurement strategies.
30. Experience in the preparation of detailed tender documents and pricing schedules
31. Post tender negotiations and contractor appointment assistance
