The Project
Following a fire risk assessment procured by the Multi Academy Trust, several doors were highlighted in need of replacement, with the inclusion of additional fire exit doors. The existing fire doors were no longer fit for purpose and did not support the Academies fire strategy. The project included the replacement of fire doors and the installation of new external doors including access control to ensure the safeguarding of the pupils.
The Challenge
Make Consulting (Make) managed the project through all stages, from design to the project management of the scheme. The project met challenges from the offset. Firstly, the project was faced with very short timescales for delivery due to increased supply chain procurement timescales and resource shortages. In addition to this, the industry was facing material shortages not known for decades coupled with a short delivery window during the Summer of only 4 weeks.
The Outcome
Make produced full design tender documents, including stipulated programme dates for phasing. Make identified critical areas, key dates, and coordinated the works in full collaboration with the school.
Make worked with the client and the appointed contractor to ensure the works were completed within allocated timescales, ensuring all works were completed before pupils returned to school.
