The Project
Works were to provide an increased number of bedrooms through the adaptation of existing space. Works were also to provide a seclusion suite consisting of a seclusion room, with its own en-suite and an associated de-escalation room. The works also involved alterations to a number of other spaces to provide the required services for the new user group, repairs to defective equipment, alterations to the access control system, roof repairs, additional CCTV, new floor coverings and all associated redecoration.
The Challenge
The greatest challenge on this project was achieving the clients required programme. This resulted in the clients brief being regularly revised throughout the design process.
The Solution
Make Consulting were appointed on the basis of an outline clients brief allowing us to commence works on the known elements of the scheme at the earliest possible opportunity, and progress the scheme while the client finalised their brief. Working with our mechanical and electrical sub consultants we prepared tender documents as a high priority allowing the project to be tendered at the earliest opportunity.
The Outcome
A contractor was sourced and appointed to the scheme early enough to achieve the required completion date, and ensure the facility was available to receive its new user group by the clients required completion date of immediately after Christmas 2020.
