The Challenge
On appointment, it became clear that timescales were a priority for the Parish Council, with the building utilised year round. Achieving a construction period that minimised disruption to operation was paramount.
With a limited budget, the Parish Council needed to provide a financially viable structure which could provide the required community services in addition to changing rooms facilities.
With this in mind, a number of options for the replacement building were considered and Make Consulting was able to facilitate comparator visits for the Parish Council enabling them to see a range of different construction options including a traditional build and a prefabricated option.
The Solution
Having concluded a full Options Appraisal and Feasibility Study, o site construction was identified as the optimum solution for this project, with the ability to provide the benefits of a reduced build time on site, a reduction in concerns over inclement weather (since the construction period would run through the autumn and winter months), and achieving the required quality standards through undertaking of construction processes under factory conditions.
Make Consulting provided Contract Administration Services as well as monitoring quality of construction on site and ensuring the completed construction was to the required high standard.
At completion the project provided 3nr changing rooms (2 teams plus referee/umpire) along with accessible WC facilities, catering facilities, and a large central viewing / function room providing the surrounding community with up to date facilities.
